Farm-to-Table Portuguese Lunch with a Local Chef in Porto

Your invitation to a private farm-to-table experience in Porto

Gather your friends or family for a fun traditional Portuguese lunch with a local chef, a once-in-a-trip culinary experience that celebrates regional flavors and cultural heritage. Whether you’re a food enthusiast, a traveler seeking authenticity, or someone who values sustainability, this experience connects you to the land, the local vendors, and the traditions that shape Porto’s cuisine.

From Market to Table

Your experience begins at the iconic Mercado do Bolhão, Porto's historic food market, alongside one of our expert local guides (one of the very same guides who accompanied Anthony Bourdain during his visit to Porto). Stroll through colorful stalls, meet passionate vendors, and discover the stories behind the ingredients. Gain a deeper appreciation for the effort and care that goes into each product. Every interaction brings you closer to the origins of the traditional Portuguese meal you’re about to prepare.

A Leisurely Walk Through Porto

After the market, enjoy a relaxed 30-minute walk through Porto's historic center. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories about the city's past, its neighborhoods, and the traditions that continue to define everyday life. This cultural stroll naturally connects the market to your next destination, offering a deeper understanding of Porto beyond its landmarks.

Cook Alongside a Professional Chef

After the market tour, your journey continues inside an exclusive fine-dining restaurant reserved for your group, where you'll be welcomed by a Portuguese chef for an interactive culinary session. Watch the dishes come to life, or roll up your sleeves and take part in crafting an authentic Portuguese lunch in Porto.

Your host will guide you through recipes you can recreate at home, sharing tips, techniques, family traditions and the cultural significance of each dish, adding a personal touch to your farm-to-table experience. This is a rare chance to experience Portuguese gastronomy from the inside.

Enjoy the Meal You've Created

Once everything is ready, sit down together and enjoy the meal you've prepared. Your experience includes carefully selected appetizers, your freshly cooked Fish Cataplana, dessert, and local Portuguese wines (or non-alcoholic alternatives), all served in an elegant yet welcoming atmosphere.

Reviews

We did the cooking class. It was a fantastic experience to get to know the chef, and learn traditional Portuguese dishes. Everything was amazing. This was great for those that unfamiliar working in the kitchen to your advance home chefs. Highly recommend it was a highlight of our honeymoon and we looked forward to recreating these dishes back home
