From former churches turned into bars with live music to amazing wine bars with beautiful views, Porto nightlife has it all!
Today I’m going to introduce you to three of the most iconic nightlife areas in Porto.
THE 3 MOST ICONIC NIGHTLIFE AREAS IN PORTO
Clérigos, the best sunset in Porto
Clérigos is the area around one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city: the Clérigos Tower (Torre dos Clérigos), built in the XVIII century by Nicolau Nazoni, an Italian architect. The 75 meters tall grant tower has the most mesmerizing 360-degree view of the city. On a clear day, there are only three colors that will pop to your head: it’s the blue from the sky and the orange from all the rooftops all around. You can also see the river and the ocean from up there. This is a great place to watch the sunset in Porto. The area around the tower has a very old meet new vibe, you’re going to love it!

Galerias nightlife in Porto
The second nightlife iconic area in Porto is Galerias. These streets may go unnoticed during the day but they completely light up at night. Galerias is all about cool wine bars and live music and crowds of people. It’s definitely a good option if you want to party since there’s a bar, club or a cafe every few steps. To be honest with you, you never really know which bar you’re actually drinking at.
Galerias is heaven for the bohemian and the core of Porto’s nightlife. Expect big crowds on the weekend and on Thursdays (academic night for Porto’s university students). And don’t miss Festas da Gigi, a classic party that takes place every first Saturday of the month at a bar called Plano B.
Porto weather is amazing compared to other European countries, so you can drink outside and enjoy your beer! If you are into Portuguese craft beer, you should join a Craft Beer Tour in Porto as well. It’s not a pub crawl, but expect to fill your stomach and your pint glass on an evening stroll through Porto. Highly recommended!

Bombarda
Lastly, Bombarda. It’s the art block of the city with tons of contemporary art, exhibitions, vintages shops, record shop, team rooms… Time will completely fly by in this lovely street. Go to Capela Incomum, a wine bar in a chapel with a very pleasant esplanade. Every now and then there’s a fado concert taking place – which pairs beautifully with the selection of Portuguese wines they have there.

ALTERNATIVE NIGHTLIFE AREAS IN PORTO
If you are looking for nightlife alternatives to these crowded streets, go to Maus Hábitos (or ‘Bad Habits), a place that crosses a comedy club, a pizzeria, and a bar. I mean, why not? You might need to brush up on your Portuguese skills for the comedy nights, but the vibe of the place is worth it!
These are some of my favorite places for a night out in Porto and I hope you enjoy it as well!
Cheers or, as we say in portuguese, À Nossa!
