Trip Itinerary

Stop #1 – Loja dos Pastéis de Chaves

The day begins with a warm flaky pastry of Chaves. A savory or sweet-tasting (your choice) that will provide you with the energy and curiosity to start your exploration of Porto.

Stop #2 – Bolhão Wine House

Soak in the energy of the market while enjoying some traditional and amazing sardines and experiencing a wine from the Vinho Verde region.

Stop #3 – Confeitaria Moura

Since 1892 Moura family has held the recipe to a unique pastry: Jesuita!

Stop #4 – Taxca

Savor this locals-only spot with a cured pork sandwich and a glass of the oh-so-typical espadal.

Stop #5 – Fábrica da Picaria

Grab a glass of their home-brew and pull up a chair to enjoy the ambiance of this craft beer brewpub. This place is part of our Craft Beer & Food Tour, and here you'll taste a very traditional "Bifana", one of the main sandwiches in the country, enjoyed from north to south, paired with a cold beer.

Stop #6 – Oficina dos Rissóis

A delightful way to end the tour! Rissóis is a popular portuguese appetizer. The filling can be either chicken, beef, shrimp, vegetables, tuna... Yes, there are many different variations but they all taste like Home to us.

Reviews

The self-guided food tour more than lived up to the expectations. The app was easy to use and the spots well-chosen. We bought some extra goodies at the Bolhão Wine House - canned sardines!

Interesting, educative, delicious and fun! As a bonus I was given top recommendations on where to go and what to do on the rest of the trip. If you’re into food and visit Porto don’t miss this.
