It always was. Its vendors have been there for a lifetime, and their families before them. Bolh\u00e3o is their home, their territory, and they move through it like waves on the sea. This is the place where the lady in the fish stall prepares the freshest fish for you just like your mother would. And the lady at the flower shop tells you \u201cBom fim-de-semana \u2018mor e at\u00e9 para a semana se Deus quiser\u201d (Have a nice weekend, love! See you next week, God willing!) and makes you feel part of something really special. <br><br>Every day feels like Christmas at Bolh\u00e3o Market because the people who work there feel like family. If you want to meet <em>tripeiros<\/em> (Porto locals) in their purest form and experience Porto through all your senses, this is the place (and, if you want to take a deep dive into the Market, our Downtown &#038; Bolh\u00e3o Market Food Tour has your name on it).<br><br>Bolh\u00e3o Wine House is located on the ground floor of Bolh\u00e3o Market and is owned by Hugo. Hugo&#8217;s grandmother, Guilhermina Silva, was a remarkable figure in our city. Born on May 26th, 1923, she dedicated herself to the art of floristry and owned a beloved flower shop in the market.<br><br>For over 70 years, she enchanted Porto with her floral creations. However, a few years ago, feeling the need for rest, she entrusted her shop in Mercado do Bolh\u00e3o to her grandson, Hugo, who transformed it into a wine house and, later on, added fish preserves to create a well-rounded experience.&nbsp;<br><br>Maria Guilhermina passed away in 2019, but her legacy lives on, especially with the new brand Hugo created, called <em>Av\u00f3 Mina<\/em> (Grandmother Mina).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A TASTE OF PORTO AT BOLH\u00c3O WINE HOUSE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here for you to sample, there is a sardine <em>petisco <\/em>(more on this later) perfectly paired with a glass of Vinho Verde, aromatic, good acidity and designed for fish. <strong>Please present the QR code at the counter to receive your petisco<\/strong>. Hugo is very passionate about all of his work, and growing up in the market, he knows everyone, so don\u2019t be surprised if he is shouting left and right &#8211; that\u2019s how families show love in the North of Portugal.&nbsp;<br><br>Now, how did you find the sardine <em>petisco<\/em>? Over the years, we&#8217;ve noticed that it&#8217;s a dish that often sparks strong opinions &#8211; you either love it or hate it! We hope it pleased your taste buds! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before we continue our culinary journey, let&#8217;s take a moment to explore the concept of &#8220;petiscos.&#8221; <em>Petiscos <\/em>are essentially smaller versions of traditional dishes. The brilliance of this concept lies in the fact that by ordering these smaller portions, you can try a greater variety of dishes compared to ordering full-sized meals. Isn&#8217;t that ingenious? We even made it into a verb: <em>petiscar<\/em>, which means to enjoy and savor these small-sized dishes, ideally shared with friends.
