F\u00e1brica da Picaria is open Monday to Friday from 5 PM to 12 AM and Saturday to Sunday from 1 PM to 12 AM. As this is a self-guided gastronomic tour, please check the timetable of each tasting venue before visiting. We do not own any of these establishments and their timetables may change unexpectedly. Welcome to F\u00e1brica da Picaria, Porto’s first craft brewery!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The owner of this establishment, Tiago Duarte, previously worked for one of Portugal’s prominent industrial beer brands, Super Bock, renowned for its light pilsner beer. However, he saw an opportunity to elevate his brewing expertise and embarked on a journey to create his own unique beers. This place is part of our Craft Beer and Food tour, and here you will taste a classic and traditional snack called Bifana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But before we get into the details, let’s make sure you have it right in front of you – it’s time to present your QR code<\/strong> to the waiter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bifana is one of the country’s top sandwiches<\/strong>, enjoyed from north to south. Bifana is a pulled pork sandwich \u2026 as simple as that! Thinly sliced pork belly and shoulder, marinated in chilies (piri piri), white wine, lots of garlic and bay leaves, then simmered in this rich, flavorful and spicy sauce. Seems basic enough, doesn’t it? However, everywhere you try a Bifana, it will taste different. And that’s the beauty of it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
