Explore Porto your way

A few years ago, we had the honor of creating a Private Custom Tour in Porto for a remarkable traveler, Anthony Bourdain. And we poured our hearts into it.

If you've watched all episodes of Parts Unknown, you know Tony had a unique way of connecting with cities.

  • He was known around the world as the adventurer who’d eat anything you put in front of him;

  • Always arrived hungry at each destination;

  • Stayed off TripAdvisor and Yelp;

  • Didn't read any guidebooks;

  • He placed his trust in the locals he met on his journeys... and very often ended up sharing a drink (or five) with a few of them.

Back then, our team of travel designers created a special itinerary for him, focusing on topics close to Bourdain's heart and aligning with his interests, schedule and preferences.

We feel lucky that we got to meet Anthony Bourdain once. He was an inspiration. He still is.

Crafting Private Custom Food Tours in Porto remains a joy for us. Each tour is a unique challenge that we embrace with enthusiasm. Traveling to a new city can be one of the most exciting adventures one can have - and helping a visitor make that journey more meaningful is our favorite thing.

Reviews

We had a private food tour for 8 women on a girls trip to Porto. We tasted 15 unique delicacies of Porto! I appreciated that the Francesinha was NOT on the tour since it would have filled us up too fast. I enjoyed the variety of tastings which included pastries, wine, cheese, meats, canned fish, bifana, fish fritters and more! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be with.

The organization is First Class all the way. From my first interaction with their coordination team lead by Iara, to the custom tour designed by their founder Andre, to our wonderful tour with their senior tour guide "Ricardo #3," they absolutely made our stay in Porto awesome. If there is one thing you intend to splurge on in Portugal, make it Taste Porto. You will not regret it.

My mom and I had a private tour with Sergio. It was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and we had a great time. He went at our pace and made sure we enjoyed every minute. All the vendors were very friendly and the food and wine were delicious. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Porto!

We took a private wine and food tour with Rita and had a fantastic time. We learned all about the history of wine and port; the regions and grapes; about different traditional foods and desserts; and so much more. It was a great introduction and we highly recommend.

One of the few absolute MUSTS I've ever found. The guides are charismatic, knowledgeable, and very experienced. The tours teach you so much about the city, culture, history, and most importantly, food and drink. There is excellent value to price, and after the tour the whole city seems to open up as you know so much about it and what areas to explore further. The knowledge is also absorbed passively and not simply lectured at you, the whole experience felt less like a guided tour and more like a friend showing you around their favorite city.

I wanted to start my visit to Porto with a special food tour. It's been a long few years and I was so excited to be back in Europe exploring the food and culture. Obviously, there are a lot of Porto food/wine tour offerings but a private tour with Taste Porto was, for me, the most intriguing. Andre (the owner) was actually tasting wine and cheese on the 2017 Parts Unknown Porto episode and I am a total sucker for that! So I wanted to do a tour "like Anthony Bourdain" would do: intimate group (I was solo), no limits on time or cost. Needless to say, Andre and Taste Porto totally delivered! I am not going to tell you where we went because you have to take the private tour yourself to get the info, but I'll tell you it was 6+ hours, at least 20 different foods, at least 6 different wines, with a beer thrown in. I've already done the bacalhau thing and I already eat a lot of octopus so he quickly redirected me to something different, chicken gizzards, francesinha "deconstructed" and tripe stew. I wanted to skip craft beer and focus on Vinho Verde wines and we had reds, whites, and roses from the region. In addition, he introduced me to his trusted purveyors and wine bar where I went later (with confidence!) for souvenirs and a wine/cheese dinner. Highly, highly recommended!

A great way to become familiar with the Porto food and wine scene. There was some very good food, wine/port samples and the portions were generous. The highlight for me was discussing Anthony Bourdain with the company’s founder (who appeared on Anthony Bourdain’s Porto episode).

Andre, the owner, gave the tour and it was fantastic. Not only is he an expert on the food and wine you'll try, but he is also a history and architecture buff. I highly recommend this tour!
