Traditional Portuguese gastronomy can be a little difficult to navigate when it comes to the so-called special dietary requirements. ESPÉCIE
Right now, it is one of the most popular vegetarian restaurants in Porto. Great vibe, very family-friendly, amazing terrace, terrific prices and seriously delicious vegetarian food! Their Korean Fried Cauliflower is a STRONG contender for dish of the year!
How to get there: a 5-minute walk from Aliados metro station.
EM CARNE VIVA
A finer dining experience solely focused on vegetarian and vegan cuisines. BEAUTIFUL decor and a great place to try the Vegetarian Francesinha. They always have one non-vegetarian dish for that meat eater we all have in our lives.
How to get there: a 3-minute walk from Casa da Música metro station.
EMOTIVO
This is a fine dining restaurant and a very special one. Here, you can travel the entire country without leaving Porto. Every two months, two regions of Portugal are chosen to be the theme of the restaurant (vegetarian options are always available). The way you choose your menu is actually through a game – it’s a lot of fun but I won’t say more so I don’t spoil the surprise. It’s a young restaurant but it’s already making quite a splash. We cannot recommend Chef Sara Verde enough. What a Queen!

CASA DE CHÁ DA BOA NOVA
Two Michelin Stars. SPECTACULAR views over the Atlantic Ocean, in a tea house designed by Pritzer-award winner Siza Vieira. Beautiful all year round. Haute de cuisine focusing solely on seafood AND vegetarian food.
How to get there: It will take you 15 minutes by car from Matosinhos Sul metro station.
